ATTICA — Russell W. Cox, 84, Attica, died at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999 in Rosewalk Village, Lafayette. He was in ill health the past three months. Born Dec. 26, 1914 in Rockville, he was the son of Otha and Ida Nolen Cox. He married Hazel M. Clark July 30, 1938 in Otterbein, who survives. He was raised in Covington and attended Covington High School. He resided several years in Wea Township, Tippecanoe County, before moving to Rob Roy. He was formerly employed at Harrison Steel Castings Co. in Attica and General Motors in Danville, Ill. He also worked for the railroad and worked for the Monon, L & N and Amtrak Railroad lines, first as a brakeman and later became conductor. He retired from the railroad in 1978 and relocated to Rob Roy where he resided before moving to Rosewalk Village. He was a member of the Lafayette Lodge 123 F. & A.M. He enjoyed working in his garden. Other survivors include: daughters, Peggy Wright, West Point, Debra Pendleton, Lafayette; sons, Larry and Steven Cox, both of Lafayette, David Cox, Rossville; brothers, Gordon Cox, Joliet Ill., Richard Cox, Covington; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters; three brothers; and one grandson. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with Rev. Dr. R. Clayton Kendall officiating. An Old Rails Memorial Service was at 4:45 p.m. Friday, and Masonic Memorial services at 7:30 p.m. Burial was at the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
